Company Profile

Originally called Hummingbird Island Helicopters, TMA is the oldest and, in many ways, the most experienced Air transfer operator in the Maldives. It pioneered the use of aircraft to transport tourists to island based resorts. In doing so, it has made a significant contribution to the development of tourism to the Maldives, which in turn has resulted in major benefits to the national economy. Founded in 1989, the company operated a strictly helicopter fleet of aircraft until the introduction of the first seaplanes in 1997. The transition to a 'seaplane-only' fleet of aircraft was completed in January of 1999. TMA now operates 20 Twin Otters, all but one of the DHC-6-300 type.

Safety

Trans Maldivian Airways (TMA) as a company excels in customer care never forgetting that safety is the pivotal instrument that delivers our service with efficiency and quality. TMA operates under the blanket of a regulatory approved Safety Management  System (SMS) that focuses on providing a just positive safety culture using proactive and predictive methods to achieve the highest safety standards in all areas of operations. We at TMA encourage all personnel and clients to be open about safety and help us develop and provide a safe environment in flight or on the ground. Safety and well being of our clients and company personnel will remain the true driving force that conveys the message "Safety is how we do business".

Quality Philosophy

Trans Maldivian Airways (TMA) is both an air operator as well as an aircraft maintenance organization in which "quality" is defined by the customer's view of the service provided and by the strict adherence to regulatory requirements in aircraft maintenance and its operations set forth by the CAD.  In support of this philosophy, TMA will ensure that it is accredited to the standards of MCAR - PART 145, MCAR - M and MCAR OPS 1 and as a minimum will comply with the requirements of these three management standards.
